Sydney was born earlier this week and all is well with the baby and Mom. The baby was named Sydney, just as I had hoped. The spelling is different than I had thought, but I like it.
This picture shows the quilt on Sydney's crib waiting for her arrival home from the hospital.

Spring Fever
It was a very nice long Easter weekend and I've definitely got Spring Fever. Every spare moment has been spent getting the yard and garden in order.
Here's just a peek at some of the things we've been doing.
Remember these birdhouses that were a Christmas gift from my hubby? They have patiently waited for Spring keeping watch over the end of winter activities leaning against the wall in our living room. If the many Zinnia seeds planted around them come up and flourish, I envision a sea of flowers waving in the breeze with the birdhouses in the middle.
These tomato cages aren't really needed yet, since the tomatoes are only about 2 or 3 inches tall, but its never too late to be prepared!
Have a wonderful Easter Monday!

A Glimpse of Home
A Saturday meal slow cooked in the oven while I worked in the yard and the house. It was delicious and the meat was so tender!
Some plants bought on clearance ready to plant. I hope to finish getting the yard ready for spring this weekend, since it will be a long weekend and the weather forecast sounds good.
The wind still blows every day.
This Christmas Cactus is still blooming! I am amazed.
Have a wonderful day!

Blooming Tuesday-Working Despite the Storms
Its hard to work in the garden when it looks like this outside the window. The ferocious winds whipped the sandy fields surrounding our home all day Saturday. But, I won't complain, considering that a few miles down the road people lost their lives and homes in all directions. All of those affected by the tornadoes in North Carolina and the other states need our thoughts and prayers.
I went outside early Saturday morning before the weather forced me inside. Here are my trusty tools and clogs waiting for me to begin.
This is a cutting of the Don Juan rose my hubby gave me that was left behind at our old home. I've had success with rooting roses using this "Grandma's Mason Jar" method before, so hopefully this one will work too.
The temperatures outside have become dependably high enough now, so I have brought many of my houseplants outside. Here are some aloe plants and a newly rooted "Ghost Plant" from one of my friends.
I repotted these two and then tucked in some annuals so their summer vacation will be more beautiful.
I filled this old rusty enamelware dishpan with pink impatiens.
The lettuce are producing more leaves than we can eat! I need to start sharing with friends!
We moved the seedlings outside. They will be planted in the garden this week.

A Little End of Week Update
I am so happy its Friday!
Here's what the back spash looks like so far. An electrician will need to come to adjust the outlets so that when the covers are put back on they will be even with the back splash.
We chose basic white subway tile since it goes with most any color and hopefully will be timeless.

Its a Mess in There!
My sewing room is a mess today! The shelf in the closet fell which knocked down the clothes rod. So all of the things stored on the shelf and all the clothes which were stored in the closet fell on top all the stuff sitting on the floor of the closet.
Today it will be repaired, but for now ITS A MESS IN THERE!
On top of that, the back splash is being installed in the kitchen today and so we had to remove everything from the top cabinets. All of that stuff is on a bed.
The clothes from the broken closet are on the love seat in the living room.
I'm going to work!!!

A Simple Farmhouse Bathroom
Here's a little peek into our farmhouse bathroom. Its not anything fancy, but serves our needs well.
The original 1940s door and door knob. There's a keyhole and if you look closely you can see the light coming through the keyhole.
A picture I received as a Christmas gift reflected in the mirror.
