Frugal Mug Rug Gift Set

After work this week I worked on this mug rug which was designed to go with the green "HOPE" mug shown with it in these pictures.

I want to give proper credit for the idea of using the Flying Geese pattern for a mug rug. You can see it here on Ms. Pork Chop's Flickr page: FLICKR PHOTO HERE Mrs. Pork Chop's blog is here:Mrs. Pork Chop

I think this makes a cute Spring gift for a friend. Total cost: $1.00. The mug was found at Dollar General and the mug rug was made from scraps.

I've got all kind of other ideas that would make this gift even more special. How about a handmade matching cloth napkin? And Oh! A couple of homemade cookies in a snack size zipper bag or A chocolate dipped spoon!

Sewing plans for the weekend: Make the backing for "Bluberri Breezes", make more mug rugs to go with the mugs I bought, do some hand quilting on the Grandma quilt and work on the red and white quilt as leaders and enders.

Debbie,
The things you make always look so rich. With lots of care put into them. I was wondering how you are so it was neat to wake up to a blog post this morning. Our pastor and wife are visiting different churches and some have been in North Carolina. They need to make a choice soon. Have a good day. :)

Debbie - What a beautiful gift... the mug rug goes perfectly with the mug! I need to get me to the dollar store and look at some mugs....

I like the idea of including a coordinating napkin and cookies. Tea bags or a specialty coffee (the tiny sample size bags) might also be a nice addition.

You do beat all!!!! (An old southern expression like "Bless your heart.")

You introduced me to the idea of
mug rugs. I might even venture to make one for myself. The mug and
rug are unique. Any and all of the ideas for enhancing the gift
are wonderful. Lucky will be the recipient.

How is the Baptist Fan quilting
coming along? And, please remind us where the name of that pattern originated.

Happy April Fool Day. We go to the Tax Man in a few minutes!

Beautiful! The colors are so pretty. I've always loved the Flying Geese pattern. I did the second quilt I made in that pattern using scraps so it's very multi-colored.
