A Simple Country Meal

It was a very busy Monday yesterday and I was glad my menu for Monday called for something simple like hotdogs and oven fries. I put the potato slices in the oven for about 30 minutes, then added the hotdogs for about 10 more minutes. We used regular bread and had mayo, mustard, ketchup and onions as condiments. Nothing fancy here!

There's no doubt in my mind that some of you are thinking that these red hotdogs aren't good for us. You are probably right! But, if you don't live in my area of North Carolina where this Carolina Packers Brightleaf brand of hotdogs is available, you don't know what a good hotdog is! I'm sorry about that, but its true!

While this was in the oven I worked on my Summer of 2010 nine patches. I'm almost caught up! If my energy holds out tonight I will have 63 done. When I have 70 done I will start cutting and sewing on the sashings.

I live in Indiana so no Carolina hot dogs for me. :) But I'll check the grocery and buy the best hot dogs I can find. This will make a wonderful quick & easy meal this week. Yum!

We don't have the same brand of red hot dogs, but we do have red ones. I never thought of putting the hot dogs in the oven, great time saver. I enjoy seeing your menus because they are similar to the things that I would make for my family.

I can't wait to see when you put the nine patches together, that will be a great scrappy quilt.

I don't live in North Carolina but have a whole passel of kin that do. I'll bet they eat those red hot dogs. I buy good quality hot dogs and keep them in the freezer. They make a simple meal for Grampy and I. I never thought of putting them in the oven with the oven fries. I'll have to try that.

Yep, red hot dogs! So bad for you but so good LOL! As a kid, I loved sliced red hot dogs with nacaroni and cheese.

Well this ole NC grandma loves the Carolina Packers Brightleaf! I keep them in the freezer and take out a few at a time. Sometimes they go in the oven and sometimes I even split them into and fry them! yum yum LOL

That looks like my kind of meal. I do live in North Carolina but I guess I live in the wrong part--I haven't seen those around here.

Dan and the kids LOVE red hot dogs. I, on the other hand, do not so they don't get them as often as they would like. ;-)

Easy is a good thing these hot summer days. I don't blame you for keeping it simple.

Yes that's good eating! Sometimes I'd rather have bread than a hotdog roll. I like mustard and cut up onion in my bread rolled around one of those red hotdogs. YUM!

Yummy! Thanks for the reminder. I'll be making oven potatoes tomorrow. I forgot about a bag under my sink!
