This is a picture of a shrub like the one that is blooming in the farm house's yard. Its a flowering quince, also known as a Japonica, an old standby of farmer's wives. I don't think I'll be making any quince jelly, but we'll see! HERE'S a description of the plant.

We had one of these at the corner of the porch when I was growing up... one of the first things to bloom... and it had thorns.. I still see them at old houses.
pretty! watch out for the thorns... a lot of the "old" flowers have thorns, don't they?
We had one of these in the wooded area adjoining our Andrews home.
I loved to cut branches to bring into the house in late winter/early spring. You will love it.
We are quite anxious to see your new home.
Love you, Marjorie
How pretty!
Ok, I paid attention today when I was driving to Asheboro. I saw several of these bushes... mostly in the yards of older homes. Very pretty!
