Hi Debbie - I've been reading your blog for a long while now but have never commented (I suppose you could call me a "lurker" although I don't care for that word :-) I just had to say how lovely your photos are! How did you learn to take such beautiful photos and what camera are you using? I'm always trying to get good sunrise/sunset pictures!

I use a Nikon 3100, and most of the time with a 50mm 1.8 lens. I've had it for about a year and a half and have taught myself the little I know. I have studied books and blogs constantly to figure things out. I'm still a long way from where I would like to be. The main reason I got the camera was for taking pictures of our grandchildren.
The thing that helped me the most was getting a book from Amazon (kindle) that is based on my camera. Also these tips: http://www.cameratips.com/ For $10.00 I bought a set of cards that apply to my camera and lens that tell me what settings to use for most scenarios.

I've been watching for your blog post like this. So neat to know how you are and what goes on where you live. Can you tell I'm a little bored with my life right now. :) All is well though. You teach yourself a lot of things. First, quilting and now the camera. Good example for those of us who lag behind sometimes. Looking forward to Fall too. Have a great week!
