Even when the temperature is 102 in my little corner of the world, going out into the yard before and after work is good for my soul. I water a little here, pull a little grass or weeds there, listen to the birds sing, watch a humming bird dart around, dead head a blossom, and capture a little of the beauty with my camera.
My very favorite thing is when the timing is right and I can hear hymns from the country church that's about a mile down the road. It chimes the time on the hour in the daytime. At noon and at 6:00 PM there are beautiful old hymns. This week I heard "A Mighty Bulwark is our God". Absolutely love that one. It brings back memories of singing it in church with my little Jacob beside me and when we got to the last line I would sing that to him... "the God of Jacob". Of course now he's a grown up tall Jacob.
Here are a few pictures of my soul soothing garden.

Everything looks so pretty, even with the hot hot temps in NC!! I love that you hear the country church hymns and are able to reminisce about singing to Jacob.
Gorgeous photos - the one under the sprinkler is magic!
Wonderful post, Debbie. Your yard is absolutely beautiful, and a tribute to your finesse in doing a lot without spending a lot. I love it.
Everything look so beautiful! My garden is an overgrown mess of weeds and I definitely need to get out there and clean it up.
I second what Auntie M said, you always have a lovely yard, just dropped a clay pot last week and now I know what I can do with the remainder!
