I already knew this, but, it makes more of an impact when you see it in person.
HEIRLOOM TOMATOES ARE UGLY!!!
In contrast, a gentle breeze blowing through the Crape Myrtle trees, blowing the tiny blooms around like snow, is beautiful! The picture doesn't show the detail, but there is a carpet of purple on the ground.
My weekend plans: Peas, tomatoes, squash and quilting, and oh yea... cleaning, laundry.....

Heirloom tomatoes may be ugle but they taste delicious. It sounds like you have a full weekend planned. Enjoy.
Yes, my mortgage lifters are looking uglier each day, but I am sure they will taste delicious!
The weekend plans before the "oh yea" sound wonderful, the other stuff not so much, LOL. Have a great weekend.
Heirloom tomatoes are delicious, but I agree they are horrid to look at. In fact, our local store sells them and calls them "Ugly Tomatoes."
German Johnson tomatoes aren't real pretty either, but they are my favorite!! Lucky you to have all those yummy maters! We used to have crepe myrtle trees at our old house (like yours) and they always bloomed around my birthday. Even now, my husband calls them my "birthday trees". :o)
My neighbor always calls them that! They are yummy though.
Pretty tomatoes were developed to look pretty... magazine pretty... but any tomato flavor worth having disappeared! I'd rather have an ugly 'mater any ole day! German Johnson tommatoes are fab!
Ours must be heirloom tomatoes. We finally have red ones. They taste fine but are kinda' ugly. My crepe myrtle is blooming.
they may be ugly but I bet they taste 100 times better than grocery store pretty tomatoes.
Hi Debbie,
Sounds like a wonderful week end. I am going to have a quiet low keyed week end too.
Hugs,
Elizabeth
