I have been doing a little sewing, in between the summer busyness going on around here. I wanted to make some more napkins to match my table runner. This fabric has a definite Fall look about it, but that's ok by me. August is next week. Can Fall be far behind?
I made these napkins larger than I usually do, in one layer. I found a tutorial on line that made mitering the corners very easy. I could not understand some of the other tutorials, but this one worked well. Then I used a leaf stitch on Big Brother to put a little decorative stitch on there.

I'll try that tutorial too. I believe I have the leaf stitch. The color of thread you used looks great.
These napkins are so pretty for fall which like you said has to be just around the corner. Cooler weather makes me smile.
Debbie, the napkins are so pretty and would make a lovely christmas gift, I think I'll take a look at the tutorial, my corners could sometimes do with a little help.
I'll be glad to see autumn make her grand entrance too. I'm looking forward to cooler days, morning mists and the spectacular colours of autumn leaves.

I love the material and the leaf stitch looks great. I've saved the link for the tutorial for mitering corners. I always have a difficult time making corners that look nice.
Beautiful Debbie! I've been thinking about sewing some cloth napkins. Do you think napkins would be good project for a beginner?

Absolutely beautiful! :)
Beautiful! Napkin making is next on my agenda.
It is great that you have more fabric like the table runner. The stitch and the corners look perfect to me!
That leaf stitch is a nice idea!
Pretty napkins! I like the decorative stitch. :)
Hi Debbie,
How pretty. Have a wonderful week end.

Love the napkins with their fancy corners!! I bought some soft napkins on clearance a couple years ago and started using them as dish towels... they are lightweight cotton, I guess and they are perfect for just wiping up in the kitchen.
Perfect! The one thing I have been wondering about for a while is how you can get the stitch turn out so nicely even at the corners. It never works out for me. Any advice on that? Thanks, and great job!
Katrin,
This is the first time I've used this stitch on napkins. I just stopped when I got to the corner with the needle down where I needed it to be on the next side. Then I lifted the pressure foot and turned to fabric. I'm not sure if my corners are ok or not, but they'll have to do.
Hi Debbie,
I wanted to tell you I have been sewing this week. I have been thinking about you. Wish you were close by so we could sew together.
Hugs,
