A Cozy Day

Its been a wonderful Fall day here... overcast, temperature in the 40s, breezy and the forecast of our first hard freeze tonight. Today I stayed home and have not ventured outside except to pluck a bell pepper from its Mama before the freeze tonight.

To fulfill my homemaking dreams, today I planned to do cooking, cleaning, laundry and sewing. Finished the laundry, have been sewing off and on contentedly.... no cleaning to speak of, and I turned this......

Into this.

Yummy Vegetable Beef Soup! The ingredients: A large can of Veg-All, 1 regular size can of corn, 2 cans of diced tomatoes, a small can of tomato paste, leftover green beans from the fridge, one celery rib, onion, bell pepper, browned ground beef and enough water to make it the right consistency. For flavoring: a small amount of salt, pepper, oregano, onion powder and a bay leaf .

Hubby brought these veggies in to save them from tonight's forecasted freeze. Not sure how I will cook them. I love squash and zucchini in June, but in November..... not so sure!

i

I finished Princess Ella's totebag and am almost through sewing on the binding on Little Miss Lily Marie. Only the label remains which I hope to finish today as well. I'll post pictures in a couple of days.

The vegetable soup looks delicious, I always think of soup as the perfect comfort food, all that nourishing goodness in a hot steaming bowl......enough warmth to stave off the coldest night.

What a lovely way to spend the evening........cosy on the sofa, hand sewing the binding, the quilt warm in your lap.......sounds like bliss to me!

I've got my spoon now I need a bowl of that delicious soup! I bet the squash and zucchini would be great in the soup. I love days when I don't have to go out and can stay in and putter, simple joys in life :0)

Enjoy your evening, I just made sure our woodstove is stoked so it will stay nice and warm this evening, it's one of those cool damp days here in Maine, the sun peaked out once or twice but that's it.

Hi Debbie. Your soup looks delicious. I have to make some soon. You could make zucchini bread. I made two of them today. I was also in the kitchen cooking today. Fall and cooking go together. Also made some chili. As for the yellow squash..I don't have any ideas. Have a great evening.

Hi Debbie,
Sounds like my kind of day. I sure could use a bowl of soup. I a so very sick with a nasty cold. Not doing nothing much but laying around.
Have a wonderful week end.
Hugs,
Elizabeth

One of our favorite ways to eat summer squash is to slice them and saute them in a little olive oil and butter. I just added some to my vegetable soup today.

By the way, I love the new blog look!
