THE FRUGAL HUSBAND CHRONICLES:
This is the continuing saga of the Frugal Husband. This week's frugal moments:
1. Frugal Husband (FH) offered to make supper while wife was setting up grand opening of Etsy Shop. FH wondered what to cook. Wife offered the suggestion that he could stop at the store and get some hamburger or other food. FH came home, checked the pantry, and made dinner without spending money.
2. FH scans the new Food Lion Sales Paper for deals, compares them to coupons and plans his grocery strategy for the week.
3. FH groans and utters mild expletives when he realizes that many coupons he planned to use in conjunction with certain sale prices at Food Lion EXPIRED 1/31/08, despite his best efforts to keep up with the coupons' expiration dates! (welcome to the world of coupon organization FH!)
4. FH asks for supply of Microwave Heating Pads to carry with him in case someone wanted to buy one. Actually sold one and brought home the $5.00 to wife.
5. FH recycles empty coffee and nut cans to store loose screws, nails and other man type things instead of investing in expensive containers.

Sounds like FH is doing lots of great things!
Your FH can come round to us (Birmingham, UK) any time to teach my NFH (non frugal husband) some tricks!!!
GOOD FOR YOU.
MY HUSBAND HAS JUMPED ON THE FRUGAL BANDWAGON...FINALLY. I AM AMAZED AT HOW MUCH WE SAVE, NOW THAT WE ARE ON THE SAME PAGE.
I love this!
What a great husband!
I couldn't help but laugh about his groans and mild expletives, I can totally relate to the expired coupons.ha.
I'll be looking forward to the continuing saga. :)
Yep, he's a keeper!
Listen, tell him next time to ask the store manager if he can use an expired coupon. Sometimes, they'll let you do that in order to keep a sale--they don't lose much on it, anyway. I've never tried this myself, but I hear it works!
Good luck with your etsy shop!
Hi Debbie,
I love reading about your dh's adventures.
Hugs,
Elizabeth

LOL, I had to laugh at your description - "man stuff". I just did a garage clean out, and it is amazing how much man stuff can accumulate in those coffee jars.
I know some other man will enjoy the few extra cans of stuff we donated to a thrift which takes building supplies.
Coffee cans are so handy!
Sounds like you have trained frugal hubby well!
Haha mama!! FH is doing a great job - he even gave us some baby coupons which we plan to use at CVS!
