My mother turned 87 Friday. We had a big celebration at the nursing home in a reserved room.
Here are a couple of her gifts that you can see looking out her window in the nursing home. After the party she said she needed to get back to her hotel room. Trust me its not as fun as being in a hotel, but at least she has a sense of humor.
She continues to have set backs that prevent her from going home.
My sister in law made this cake:
My son, Jacob, turns 25 today! I gave him the Jacob's Ladder quilt that I finished up about a month ago.
This label probably is a little embarrassing to him, but one day he will look back on it and know that I loved him.

Loved this blog. Beautiful cake and quilt. I love that your mom called it her hotel room. We have a mother and son (in our church) who are going to assisted living and he said they were going to the Holiday Inn.
Happy Birthday to Jacob and your mom!!! The cake is beautiful and Jacob is gonna love his quilt!!! And I'm sure your sweet label didn't embarrass him. ;-)
I know your son was so glad to get his quilt...how about that 25!!!
Hope your mama get so to come home real soon...
happy birthday to both your mom and son.
that is such a beautiful special quilt, I am sure your Jacob is more than worth it. :) any signs of a Mrs. Jacob in the near future?
Happy Birthday to your son and your Mother!!
The "Jacob's Dream" quilt is gorgeous. You should be very proud of yourself, Debbie.
Happy Birthday to your Mom and to your son, Jacob! I also did a post on my mom's birthday in January. I'm so lucky, my mom is still in good health and lives at home. I called the post, "My Mom, the Cowgirl". Thanks for sharing your Mom's birthday with us.
Debbie, I appreciate the pictures and the love expressed by all. I bet that Mama Alice enjoyed the extra attention brought on by her birthday - even at the 'hotel'.
It is a sure bet that Jacob will love the quilt and the label thereon! You are more than clever!
