I know I am not alone in this, but at my house there are two jobs that are never ending and you have to stay on top of them....
One is laundry. I don't mind doing laundry that much. After all, the machines do all the work. Its not like I am washing clothes in the creek on a rock or like my grandmothers and mother, using a wringer washer on the back porch or in an outbuilding. I just have to put the laundry in the machines and keep it moving along.
When I am at home on Saturdays or other days off I love to start the laundry first thing in the morning and keep it moving all day until finished. It gives me something to do when I take a break from sewing or other activities.
My hubby says he has magic clothes. They just appear on the bed all clean, folded and sorted for him to put away into his drawers.
I also do my mother's laundry. At the nursing home we had the option of doing the laundry ourselves or if we put her name in the clothes with a laundry pen, they would do it. I said, no thanks. I will keep her clothes clean myself. That's just one small thing I can do for her that's no problem at all.
This is a recently made clothespin bag hanging in my laundry room. I will make a few of these all along so they will be available when the weather warms up this spring.
The other never ending job is keeping the dust bunnies under control on the hard wood floors!!! Isn't this terrible?!!! Its not as bad as it looks. We have a fan in this room and this spot is located on the side of the room where there is a draft every time the front door is opened. All the dust bunnies are either blown or sucked over this way and they congregate here. It only took a minute to get them up, but I couldn't resist showing you how I was NOT on top of this job for a few days!!! Believe me it was only a few days!!
What jobs do you have to stay on top of or they will take over your house?

It's the dishes. I cook and bake both of which gives me plenty of dishes to do. I have a dishwasher and the dishes that go into it are usually clean. It is the things that I do not want in the dishwasher that put me behind. I try to make sure those few things are done each evening so they do not pile up and make a mountain.
I do remember how wringer washer and put rubber diapers through that wringer diapers and explodes, and garments sometimes get stuck going around and around and around those wringers. I remember having to disassemble the whole wringer head to get something untangled. and I ruined a couple of shirts
Did you ever get anything caught in a wringer?or ruined a couple of shirts? Thanks for the reminders .

Hi Debbie,
Floors and bathroom. These are two things I put off till I have to do them. Which is twice a week. For some reason my fairy Godmother keeps calling in sick. LOL
Hugs,
Elizabeth
Mine is clutter! As fast as I clean up a pile it seems another appears. Dusting is the chore I dislike the most!
Definitely the dust bunnies. We have hardwood floors too and even sweep almost every day!
I also have a hard time keeping up with mopping the floors once a week. But with dust mopping, it doesn't look too bad!
Stacks and stacks and stacks!!!!!!
You know!!!!
Fixing food and washing dishes are the most "challenging" for me! Laundry ... I seriously LOVE to do that, plus hanging them on the line. :)
Anne, thanks for the YouTube video. I remember seeing my grandmother and mother use one of those, but its been a long time!
Floors and bathrooms are the hardest to keep clean at my house.....with two large dogs that go in and out the floor is always in need of mopping!
Well if all I had to do was stick clothes in the washer or dryer it would be o.k. But I hate folding and putting away clothes! Keeping the bathrooms clean is something that seems to be never ending!
my husband has magic clothes too :)
our floors need done regularly. That sweet housedog of ours sheds like crazy - he always has and I guess he always will. Lots of dust bunnies!
and dishes! I am home with the grandchildren and it is just amazing how many dishes we go through.
Ugh, laundry: My number one enemy in my household. You know you hate laundry when you have a mountain of it to do and there are only two people living in your house! I think it's time to go through my husband's and my clothing and donate.
Great blog. Looking forward to more posts! :)
Dusting--and I DON'T do a good job of it so from time to time my husband shames me by doing it himself. But that hasn't made me change. Yet. In seventeen years.
