From Mug Rugs to Frying Pan Rugs

My hubby does almost all of the kitchen clean up at our house. I do almost all of the cooking. It works out great because he is very good at loading and unloading the dishwasher. In fact, he's very particular about it and will come behind me and rearrange the dishes and silverware if I try to do it myself.

So, it came as no surprise when he requested me to make some frying pan rugs to go between our set of three teflon coated frying pans. He read somewhere that you should put something between them to prevent the ones on top from scratching the ones underneath. He has been using paper towels, but a folded dishtowel or a dollar store potholder would work too.

I made our frying pan rugs just like mug rugs, except they are round and I used store bought extra wide bias tape for the binding. I need more practice on sewing on the bias tape, but these turned out great for our purposes.

First I machine meander quilted a square and then I used plates in the two sizes needed to mark the shape of the bottom of the the two frying pans. Then I cut out the circles with scissors. The bias tape was sewn on totally by machine.

This was a quick project and made my hubby very happy. Hopefully this will add to the life span of our frying pans.

Yes, I know my hubby is a keeper!

That is a great idea. Good nonstick frying pans are expensive and stacking them does cause scratches. Now if only I could talk my husband into learning how to cook. :)

What a wonderful idea! You two are so smart.. a perfect pair, right? I love the fabric you used for your frying pan rugs.

I love it... you have cool pads for your skillets and got to practice binding as well!

As I have said so many times, "I am so glad that you two found each other!"

Both are keepers.

I've seen people put paper plates between their frying pans and other bowls and things.

I need practice with binding too. :-) My mom is really good at it; but I just can't seem to get it exactly right even following her instructions!

Hi Debbie,
We have the same system here. I cook Dave cleans. I made some dividers too for our skillets. I just love yours. I have started a new blog. Please stop by for a visit.
