Since I was in between quilts Sunday afternoon, I played with my plants. My "making something from nothing" theme works well with plants. All you do is pull out some small pots and saucers bought at a thrift store, throw in some dirt and stick the African Violet leaves in a hole made with a pen or pencil. Place them in a sunny window and keep moist.
These spindly looking plants are some that have been rooting in a mason jar all winter. They don't look like much now, but hopefully with some tlc they will fill in and make pretty plants later on.
One more Christmas Cactus bloom about to open.
The Mandevilla is still trying to get outside. Only another month, after all chance of frost is past, I will move him outside.

I love your african violets. My mom used to have a window full of them. She would start hers in a little glass with tin foil over the top. She'd punch a hole in the foil and stick the leaf through. Hers would always root and mine would always rot. lol
I love your Christmas cactus. Mine died last year and now I'm on the hunt for one at the nursery. Are your plants in a north window? That's the only window I have that doesn't get so much sun the plants fry in the summer time.
I'm so proud of you for maintaining and rooting your plants. I didn't do too well this year. I left most of mine outside too long and the freeze got them. I may have to start over now. I think my Christmas cactus is the only thing that survived and maybe a snake plant. :o(
Makes me want to go out and gets some houseplants. I haven't had any except for the geraniums that I am wintering over....my houseplants died quite some time ago. I would love to have another Christmas cactus and at one time I did have some fairly nice african violets.
I am doing something wrong. My Christmas cactus did not bloom this year.
You have to be kin to TJ's mother.
Her fingers were all 'green thumbs'. Yours must be the same.
What a good job with the plants.
I believe that window faces south, right?
