Decorating With What You Have

This is one side of the built-in bookcases in our family room. We already owned every single thing on there. The nice thing is that I can rearrange it according to the seasons or just to make a change. As I was deciding what to put on each shelf, I found myself using a theme for each shelf or area. One shelf is dedicated to gardening things. One shelf is dedicated to my son, Josh, who passed away 24 years ago at age 2. Another shelf has family pictures framed only in black, silver and pewter frames. So if I want to I can just re-do one shelf when a new theme interests me.

Debbie, your shelves are so pretty, and I love the "Family" on the wall. I can't tell if it is a hanging or if it's a decal, but it is very pretty! I have collected so many books lately, with all my thrift store visits, that I am wanting a pretty bookcase for them. Would love to have a pretty white one like your built in's.

From the heart and beautiful! It's hard to do this without looking like clutter, but you did it. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful display, Debbie. Don't know what to single out, for I love it all! Curious about where you found the 'Family' plaque. It is just right.
