I have two ideas that work for me this week.
1. Shower Curtains: Our bath tubs use shower curtains and I was constantly replacing them with new liners because of mildew. I've taken them down and washed them in the washing machine or other ways, but ultimately, they would just need to be replaced. The last ones I bought were a little nicer than I normally buy and really hated to just throw them away. Recently when I was cleaning the tub with "Scrubbing Bubbles" cleaner I sprayed some on the shower curtain too. THE MILDEW CAME OFF WITH PRACTICALLY NO WORK!!! I just wiped it off and rinsed it by directing the shower head towards it. I'm sure most other people already knew this, but it just dawned on me.
2. Coupons: I have a love/hate relationship with coupons..... I love to use them, but hate to keep up with them.
Here's the way they look when they get out of hand:
Carrying around a plastic box like this DOESN'T work for me! I threw away all the coupons that had expired, of course. I also went ahead and got rid of the coupons I routinely clip, but NEVER end up using. For instance refrigerated biscuits and cookies. There are always a bunch of these in the paper, but we just never use many of them.
I have now reverted back to my old organizer until a better solution arises.
Having a small organizer works for me. No plastic boxes and no notebooks.
For a wonderful post on simplifying coupon organization, read Lyn's post at her blog called Essential Thrift, HERE.

Thanks for sharing, Debbie. I spray my shower curtain all the time and it seems to really help keep the mildew to a minimum.
Interesting that you posted on shower curtains today. My husband's shower curtain is looking pretty grungy this week and I had been thinking of purchasing one of those nicer curtains that's not supposed to mildew. I wonder if they work? I usually spray ours with clorox spray and that works pretty well too. Coupons really can get out of hand, can't they? I think clipping only the ones I know I'll use works best for me.
i'm with you on the coupons. I bought a great file case for mine but it's just too big and bulky to carry around, and i can't keep track. Thanks for posting that. I really need to get a small folder like yours that is easier to carry around.
I used to do the whole thing with the coupons... my son carried the paper and gave me all the coupons for the ones that didn't sell on Sunday.. that was a long time ago... and they sometimes had coupons for free stuff that didn't have a limit.... my sister and I still think about all the bounce dryer sheets we got for nothing and that lasted us forever... I even had my grociers run again once when the price for the amount I received looked so rediculus to the checker... however it was double coupon up to $1 and after they redid my stuff they saw that it was correct... those were the days... now I'm lucky if I can find a 35 cents off tide...
I always buy the cheapest shower liner and have to buy new ones more often than I want to... since they changed our water... no more cholorine.. its even harder to keep it from mildewing...
ooh i like that coupon organizer. i should get me one of those!
Hi Debbie,
I keep my coupons in a evelope in my purse. I don't get very many of them so that works best for me.
Hugs,
Elizabeth
Debbie, you are reminding me to clean my shower curtain, thank you! :)
I like your new system! I had one of those same boxes and it was just too much for me too.
I'm a visual person which is why I think simple things mentally work better for me (less overwhelming too).
Thank you so much for linking my article, that's so nice of you!
Thanks for the tip about cleaning shower curtain liners! We always had doors, but opted for curtains when we had Bathfitters redo the tub/shower of our main bathroom. I threw out an old, mildewy curtain after just a short time. Now I'll try your idea for the latest one!
Did you ever see my post about my coupon binder? It's what works for me--keeping them intact, in page protectors. I also keep a running list of what I have, although I'm sure those kinds of things exist on line.
BTW, did you ever try Coupon Clippers? I just did last week and was very pleased.
I wish all coupons were electronic and just loaded on to your shopper card - wouldn't that be great! I have a stack of them to file. I have to go read Lyn's post.

Thanks for the tip on the Food Lion online coupons. Can you believe I never even looked at those before?
I've got a cloth shower curtain that is like the ones at hotels, no need for a liner. They still get mold that's hard to wash off, even with adding bleach to the washing machine. I'll try Scrubbing Bubbles, thanks!
That is really neat about mildew. I spray ours occasionally, but it never seemed to work; I'll have to get some Scrubbing Bubbles to try that.
I noticed the picture you have of your fabric stash; my it is neatly organized! I hesitate to show a picture of my own; it looks like the bottom of my purse!
