Small Town America - My Walking Route in Pictures

A while back when I was having camera problems I posted a description of the route I walk during my lunch break at work, weather permitting, HERE.

I took my camera along during one of the nice days we had here in North Carolina last week to show you some of what I see every day.

These are some old trains from times gone by. No trains go through this town any more and in fact most of the train tracks in my area have been taken up. I can imagine that the purple car would have been very pretty in its earlier days. To the right of these train cars is a restaurant made from the old train station. Its a fun place to eat. Occasionally I will splurge, especially in hot weather, after my walk and stop in there for a cup of sweet iced tea.

This one of my favorite places. The Library! Many times I will stop in there during my walk. Its about half way and it gives me some incentive to get out and walk. Its also a nice cool place to duck into during some of the very hot summer days we have around here.

In the background you can see the back part of a big church. Those are the Sunday School Rooms. They also have a summer care program and during the summer there are kids out there eating lunch or playing. You can hear their laughter and voices from all over the area I walk in.

This is a random picture taken across the tops of some buildings. At the top is the courthouse clock which you can see from most anywhere during my walk. This is the County Seat of the area where I live.

A couple of views from the beautiful little church yard I love to look at year round.

This my office. Its an old house that's listed on the historical places register.

Finally, this picture is a little bit of a mystery. If you look really close, way back at the bottom of the street, there is a white cross. What do you think is down there?

***** Update. Yes, the guesses in the comments are correct. Its a cemetery. I don't walk there because its very secluded. The picture was taken while standing in front of my office, so it would be very convenient. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my walking route.

Neat pictures. I love the cobblestones in the church yard! I'm guessing the cross is where a grave yard begins?

Thanks for the tour. I love pictures of small towns and I am with Terri in thinking that the white cross may at a cemetary.

Blessing,

I was thinking cemetery or hospital for the cross. Inquiring minds want to know.

Now, Debbie,
Next time we are in the area, I wish to walk with you along your route. It has been a good long while since I was in Clinton. But, I do have some good memories.

I catch your blog daily whether I comment or not. Keep up the great work.

Love your walking tour. I have thought of doing a photo tour on my way to work. There are several homes I enjoy "studying" every morning on my way. I love your office building. You probably get tired of seeing it everyday, but it is gorgeous!
