Show and Tell Friday - I hate the deer, but Love my Son!

This is my fireplace and mantel. As I stated in the title, I hate the deer, but love my son! Some day he will get married and leave home, taking this prized possession with him to make his own home a manly haven. But, for now, I don't have the heart to take it down. If all else fails, maybe he can put it in his bedroom....

The mantel was made from a cypress log taken from the property we live on in 1984. This picture would make you think I live in a hunting lodge in the mountains, but I promise you that I don't!

I changed the section of the mantel I posted about yesterday. On the left is a small collection of Willow Tree Figurines. There is an "Angel of the Garden", Two "Angels of Love", and the "Anniversary Angels". All were Christmas gifts over the past 2 or 3 years.

As you can tell, I love sunflowers. The picture is a Monet print. The small sunflower arrangement above is made up of silk sunflowers placed in a decorative watering can I found at Dollar General in the "Summer/Garden" isle this week.

I know that if I removed some of the family photos I could make the mantel look more professionally decorated, but I can't part with them. Who needs a perfect display anyway? Not me! I just placed items that I love in an arrangement that is pleasing to me and makes me happy.

Please go to Kelli's House for more Show and Tell Friday Fun!

Bless the deer! LOL Some people seemed surprised when they come to my house NOT to find any deer heads, etc... since my husband works with the wildlife dept. He has a few in his garage, but I never wanted any in my house. :o) Your fireplace and mantel are so large, it NEEDS a deer head up there. Looks nice! (in fact, you have room for a few more deer heads up there!)

I chuckled...what us mothers will put up with for the love of our children! If he is anything like mine, he won't want the deer head when he leaves...but he will want you to keep it!!

My Show n Tell is all about afghans today. If you can get a chance, do stop by. Happy Friday.

You would love the children's book I found thrifting yesterday. It is called Linnea in Monet's garden. Such a delightful read for children and adults who want to share the beauty of Monet with their own little people.

I love the sunflowers, Debbie! The deer head - not so much. LOL! My grandfather had tons of deer heads always hanging around his house.

Very nice mantle decorations. I especially like the little lamp sitting atop the books and the flowers tucked inside the pitcher. Thanks for stopping by Marigold Manor and commenting on my miniature stove;-)

Have a Blessed weekend.

We do sacrifice for our children.lol Maybe he could hang it in his bedroom. My husband put his in a small bedroom we use for exercise and whatnot.

The deer fits the space. I like it! It goes nicely with the brick and beams. You could always put a big pink bow and some lace around it's neck(giggle). I think it makes the room look like a cozy cabin.

Instead of deer, we have mounted fish, a large walleye and a smallmouth bass. My husband loves to fish so I do what I have to do. I also love Monet. I have a couple of prints that I need to reframe and put back up. They make me feel tranquil when I look at them. Thanks for sharing part of your home with us.
