Hello Hanna!

We've already got rain and blustery conditions and it looks like the eye of Tropical Storm Hanna (maybe hurricane strength by now) will pass through here tonight. Our winds are expected to be 40 to 50 mph. Shouldn't be too much of a problem, as long as we stay in and have no tornadoes! I'm sure the yard will be a mess tomorrow!

I stopped at the grocery store yesterday afternoon to pick up a couple of things and the place was packed! Most of the bread was gone. People really get excited around here when you mention the "h" word (hurricane) or the "s" word (snow).

My children and I slept on the floor of the living room in 1996 during Hurricane Fran. Now that was a storm to remember!

Hope Hurricane Ike doesn't come through here or affect anybody in the US, especially the gulf coast!

Living in the woods and many pine trees at the time of Fran, I figured the safest place in my home was in front of my stove in the kitchen. I took the cushions off the couch and laid them in front of the stove and I slept there...LOL My husband took the setee across the room.. we didn't get much sleep... I think I heard every tree that fell.. but none close to the house.

I pray that all stays well with you and yours. My son just got back from the Gulf with Hurricane Gustav, and may have to go back out with Ike. Hope you and yours have a blessed day.

Hi Debbie,
I hope it doesn't affect your area too much! I just read the news and that's how I found out it was coming your way.

You are in my good thoughts as always.

It's all quiet here now in coastal SE Va. It was windy and rainy all day, but it's settled down now. The yard is a mess! We had a large hawk or osprey take refuge among our shrubs in the backyard. It was neat watching him sit a while on our chain link fence.

It's been so dry here in the last 2 years that there was no flooding. The ground just soaked it all up.

Stay safe.
